Oahu Tennis Coaches

Unlike the mainland, Hawaii does not have tennis club/academy facilities for junior development.  This puts Hawaii juniors at a tremendous disadvantage.  When I lived in the South Bay of Los Angeles, I played at the West End Tennis Club (20 outdoor courts) where Robert Landsdorp trained promising Southern California juniors.

As a result, the alternative is to work individually with an Oahu tennis coach:

Albert Murata (East Oahu)
Brent Hunter (Town)
Bruce Nagel (Kailua)
Carolyn Katayama (Town)
Charlie Swift (Kailua)
David Chang (Pearl City; Town)
David Porter (Laie)
Derrick Lajola (Town)
Glenn Yamamoto (Manoa)
Henry Sommerville (Hawaii Kai)
Howard Tacub (Town)
James Brown (Town)
James Jensen (Hawaii Kai)
Jerry Cape (Town)
Kyle Kaneshiro (Pearl City)
Ryan Lee (Town)
Rusty Komori (Mililani)
Ty Aki (Town)
Wei Yu (Manoa)

  1. I have spent a lot of time in HI. Love it and also spent a decade on the pro tour as Chaplain. Glad to see this blog and yes HI should have more going on internationally. Rev. Bob Kraft.
